Bethesda Hospital in Mahabo, about 1.5 hours from Antananarivo, welcomes doctors, nurses and health professionals of every specialty. Come for a short-term medical mission or stay long-term.

    We drive you to Mahabo, in the Analamanga region of the central highlands.

    You stay and eat with us, and work with the hospital team through English interpreters.

Every specialty is welcome

Bethesda Hospital is a Christian mission hospital run by HSY, a Korean mission organization serving the community of Mahabo with a hospital, a school, a church and clean-water wells.

We welcome volunteer doctors of any specialty, nurses, and other health professionals. You do not need to match a list of open positions. Tell us what you do, and we will work out with you how your skills can serve patients here.

Short-term or long-term, the length is yours to choose

There is no minimum stay and no maximum. Come for as long as your work and family allow.

Short-term medical mission

A week or two, or a few weeks between commitments at home. A good way to see the hospital and decide whether to return.

Long-term medical volunteer

Several months, a year, or longer. Time enough to follow patients, know the staff and become part of the life of the hospital.

Accommodation and meals
Your lodging and your meals are provided for the whole of your stay.
Authorization to practice in Madagascar
We handle the authorization process for foreign medical professionals. We will tell you which documents we need from you.
Airport pickup
We meet you on arrival in Antananarivo.
Transport
We take you to Mahabo and support your travel during your stay.
Interpretation
Interpreters work in English, so you can serve without speaking Malagasy or French.

Madagascar has several towns named Mahabo. Ours is the one near Antananarivo, not the Mahabo in the Menabe region on the west coast.

How to apply

    • your profession and specialty
    • the country where you are licensed
    • your preferred dates and length of stay
  2. We reply to settle your dates and the documents needed for your authorization to practice.
  3. You book your flights. We meet you at the airport in Antananarivo.

The earlier you write, the more time we have for the paperwork.
